To be a poet is to be taller, it is to be bigger
Than men! Bite as one who kisses!
It is to be a panhandler and to give as if one is
King of the kingdom of the near and far from pain!
It is to have a thousand wishes of splendour
And even know what one wishes!
It is to have here inside a shooting star,
It is to have condor claws and wings!
It is to be hungry, it is to thirst infinity!
To put on a helmet of gold and satin mornings
It is to condense the world in one only cry!
And it is to love you, like this, hopelessly
It is to be spirit and blood and life in me
And to say it singing it to everyone!
